The legendary muscle car, complete with HEMI V8 engine and intuitive technology, has been reborn inside a three-row SUV.
Wait…come again?
Stellantis has just unveiled the release of the Dodge Durango for 2026, and it is unlike any SUV we’ve seen before. Paired with the powerful HEMI V8 engine, this ride is prepared to go where no SUV has dared to venture.
But what else is in store for this new arrival? Keep reading to find out!
Say Hello to the 2026 Dodge Durango HEMI V8
While we’re used to seeing power packed into the Dodge GT and the SRT Hellcat, we were unprepared for the arrival of the Dodge Durango HEMI V8 engine.
But we can’t say we mind the surprise.
According to the press release issued by Stellantis, “Starting with orders placed on August 13, every Durango will come standard with a HEMI V-8. It’s another Dodge power move that delivers the ‘affordable performance’ our Dodge customers demand and deserve.”
As the standard V6 makes way for the new V8, the latest power-packed arrival is poised to make its mark on the SUV segment. The standard 5.7-liter V8 is set to transform the base-level Durango GT, producing 360 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft of torque.
The Durango R/T also levels up when equipped with the 392 HEMI V8, delivering an incredible 475 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft of torque–a 115-horsepower increase from the 5.7-liter engine.
Untapped Potential In Every Row: A Look Inside the 2026 Durango
With three rows comes great responsibility, and the Durango has managed to ensure that comfort, technology advancements, and space are paramount for the new model year.
The first row offers a modern twist on the “luxury-meets-muscle-car” design that has become synonymous with the Dodge name. With first-class comfort and ergonomics that truly allow you to sit back and relax, we have nothing but good things to say about the experience in the first row.
The journey to the second row is often where SUVs will be divisive, often begging the question: Is there enough room in the backseat to sit comfortably as an adult?
For the Durango, the answer is a resounding yes.
While a three-seat bench is standard, you have the alternative captain’s chairs configurations for those wanting a little extra space and ease when venturing to the third row.
As for the third-row seats, they may provide some complications with the second-row bench configuration, but the elevated wayback provides a sense of space that can be hard to come by at the back of the vehicle.
Intuitive Technology for the Journey Ahead
One of the primary components of any ride is the technology housed within–and the Durango does not disappoint.
Featuring a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with the Uconnect system and various audio systems available, the 2026 Dodge Durango redesign is gearing up to be the best yet.
Other technology features and updates for the 2026 Durango include:
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Bluetooth connectivity
- Standard 6-speaker stereo system
- Optional 10-speaker Alpine stereo or 20-speaker Harman/ Kardon stereo system
